Color-Blocking

Hi! This spring, there are two main styles that will be in BIG! Mainly, “cheerful color-blocking” and “feminine florals”. Yes, color-blocking is coming back—again—for this spring! Today, I’m just going to talk about color-blocking (floral is coming soon!)
A lot of people ask, “What is color-blocking?” Lots think it’s weird, ugly, or kinda strange, but those people just don’t really understand how it goes. Just follow these few steps to successfully color-block!

#1— Pick colors that work with each other. A little tip is that colors directly across from each other on the color wheel work well together. Like, purple & yellow, red & green (nut only for Christmas!), orange & blue, etc. This color wheel is very simple; one with more colors would show you more in depth combinations. This is legit one of the easiest ways to pick colors. And, of course, this doesn’t mean red & purple won’t look good together; it just tells you what definitely will.

#2— Pull those same colors throughout. Don’t just wear a million different colors... You’ll look a little kooky. Wear a colored shirt, pants in a different color, and then accessorize in a bright color; i.e. A red top, purple pants, a yellow belt, yellow chunky earrings, and yellow flats. Simple and pulled together!

#3— Add one accessory with all the colors. This step is optional, and it may be breaking basic color-blocking rules, but it’s what I like to do! If you had the outfit I mentioned above (red top, purple pants, yellow belt, yellow chunky earrings, and yellow flats), you could replace the yellow flats with red, purple, and yellow floral flats. Or have a big red, purple, and yellow bow. I love this little step!
